Speed Match FAQ

Relationspot Speed Matching Event - FAQs

Your questions, answered honestly and without the fluff.

What is Relationspot?

Relationspot is a member-driven social group for neurodiverse adults 21+, including individuals on the autism spectrum, with ADHD, AuDHD, or social anxiety. Our mission is to create a supportive, judgment-free community through in-person and virtual events, class series (on dating, money management, and more), and 1:1 coaching.

Because our members' ideas drive everything we do, we co-planned our upcoming Speed Matching events with our Member Advisory Board.

What is the Relationspot Speed Matching Event?

Think of it as matchmaking meets speed dating. We get to know you through your registration, find your people before you even arrive, and then you actually get to meet them face to face in a space that's warm, welcoming, and built specifically for neurodivergent adults like you. No guesswork, no awkward cold introductions. Just real conversations with people we genuinely think you'll connect with.

Is this a dating event or a friendship event?

It can be both! It's totally up to you.

Some people come hoping to find a romantic spark. Others are looking for their next best friend. All of that is completely valid and welcome here at Relationspot.

How does this whole Speed Matching thing work?

We do the work before you even walk in!

  • Before the event: Fill out a short registration and matching questionnaire so we can handpick the right people for you.

  • During the event: Have a series of 8-minute conversations with your curated matches. Our team guides every transition so you always know what's next.

  • After each round: Privately share how you felt about each connection.

  • After the event: We send out your mutual matches. You can connect by email or chat through the Speedmatch app, however feels right for you.

Wait, I won't meet everyone there?

Correct, and that's actually one of the things that makes our event different from anything else out there.

Rather than rotating through every single person in the room, you'll meet a smaller group specifically chosen for you based on your registration responses.

This means less overwhelm and more meaningful conversation. We believe in quality over quantity always.

How long are the conversations?

Each one-on-one conversation is 8 minutes. Long enough to actually say something, short enough that you never have to worry about getting stuck.

I'm really nervous. What if I run out of things to say?

That's totally normal!

A lot of people feel exactly the same way and we built this event with you in mind. Everything is designed around predictability and safety. We'll have ice breaker cards available if you need a starting point, and Relationspot coaches are available for any support or guidance.

Do I have to make eye contact?

Nope. We mean it. Communicate in whatever way feels most natural and comfortable to you.

Can I actually be myself here?

Yes, and this one matters a lot to us.

Relationspot was built by and for the neurodivergent community. We know what it feels like to spend energy masking, performing, and shrinking yourself to fit in somewhere. You don't have to do any of that here. Show up as you are. That's exactly who we want to meet.

Will there be breaks?

Absolutely, between every round there will be a 2 minute break. You can also step away at any point during the event.

What if I get overwhelmed?

Your wellbeing comes first, full stop.

If at any point you feel overstimulated, anxious, exhausted, or just done you have options:

  • Take a break whenever you need one.

  • Find a Relationspot coach, they're there for you!

You are never expected to push through discomfort here. We mean that.

What should I wear?

Whatever helps you feel comfortable. Casual, dressy, and quirky are all welcome at our events. The only dress code is: wear what makes you feel good.

Will there be food and drinks?

Yes! We'll have light appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages available throughout the event.

What happens after the event with my matches?

After the event you will be notified if there are any mutual matches! You can connect by email or chat through the Speedmatch app, however feels right for you. You'll receive an email with all of the info!

What if I don't match with anyone?

That's okay, and it doesn't mean anything went wrong. A lot of people leave our events having had great conversations, experienced being in a social space that felt supportive, and feeling genuinely good about the experience. That counts for a lot.

We're creating opportunities for connection, not guaranteeing outcomes. And we'll always be here for the next event too, this community isn't going anywhere!

Will my personal information be shared?

Only when there's a mutual match, and only with that person.

Your registration details are private and used only for matching and event logistics. We don't share or distribute your information. Ever. Keeping your trust is something we take seriously at Relationspot.

What's your cancellation policy?

We ask that you cancel at least 48 hours in advance if you can no longer attend.

Last-minute cancellations are genuinely hard on us. When someone drops out close to the event, it can disrupt the matching process for other attendees who are counting on being there. So please, if something comes up, let us know as early as possible. Late cancellations are not eligible for a refund.

We take your commitment seriously, and we hope you will too!

How do I contact Relationspot?

We're rooting for you already.
